Selected in 2023 as the winning proposal in a public competition to transform the city’s Midway District, the Midway Rising Master Plan envisions a transformation of the area from a single-purpose arena, ancillary auto-oriented retail, and parking into a mixed-use community village with up to 4,627 homes, 8 acres of parks, 7 acres of open space, a multi-purpose entertainment center, and pedestrian-oriented retail and supporting uses that together will result in an attractive, walkable, and inclusive urban village consistent with the vision and policies established in the Midway-Pacific Highway Community Plan and the City of Villages concept of the City of San Diego General Plan.
